Additional Apps & Hosting

The official apps add features such as double-entry bookkeeping, bank connections and other workflows. Check their availability and license separately from the core installation. A cloud plan or an app purchase does not automatically lift the BSL limits for every use. The respective agreement determines any further rights.

License Restrictions

Akaunting's Business Source License 1.1 is not an open-source license. The source code is publicly available. The license terms allow copying, modifying and redistributing the software as well as non-production use.

The «Additional Use Grant» also allows production use for your own business purposes, but limits it to a total of two users, one company and 1,000 invoices. It excludes a commercial «Accounting Service» in which third parties benefit directly from the accounting or invoicing features. Your own employees and contractors do not count as third parties.

The license also prohibits removing the name, logo, copyright or other branding to distribute a rebranded or white-label version as part of a commercial or nonprofit product or service. Any use outside these terms requires a commercial license.

The designated «Change License» is GPLv3. The change applies to each version separately four years after its release, at the latest on the fourth anniversary of its first public distribution under this license. Until then, the BSL restrictions apply.
