The actively maintained Community Edition can be self-hosted, is licensed under AGPL-3.0 and uses TypeScript, Python and PostgreSQL. Cloud plans and the Commercial Edition are separate offerings.

Proprietary Commercial Edition

According to the plan comparison, the proprietary Commercial Edition adds a workspace-wide wiki, time tracking, templates, additional roles and approval workflows, among other features, depending on the plan. These additional features remain tied to the corresponding edition even when self-hosted. The product name «Commercial Edition» refers to a proprietary edition here, not to any business use of the AGPL core.

The proprietary Commercial Edition falls under the Plane end user license agreement. It grants a limited, non-transferable and revocable right of use based on the purchased user seats and the chosen plan. It prohibits modification, distribution, sublicensing and use to build competing products or services. Reverse engineering is allowed only to the extent the law permits.

These restrictions do not affect the open-source version in the public repository, which remains licensed under the AGPL v3.
