Go Developer for Web Applications & APIs

Are you planning a web application with Go or looking for support with an existing backend? I develop and operate web applications and APIs with Go.

I have used Go (Golang) for client projects and my own products since 2014. These include HR software, billing systems, web crawlers, and SimpleDMS.

Reference Projects

Document management with SimpleDMS. My document management system for small businesses has a Go backend with SQLite. It supports multiple tenants and is offered on-premises and as SaaS. The frontend uses server-rendered HTML templates and htmx. More about SimpleDMS.

HR software as SaaS. From 2020 to early 2025, I planned and developed a comprehensive HR application for a company, including its operational infrastructure. I initially worked alone and led a small team from late 2022. The Go backend supports features such as time-dependent master data, workflows, and permissions for matrix organizations. More about the HR project.

Web crawlers for my own website tools. I have developed a site crawler in Go since 2014. It forms the foundation of my Sitemap Generator and Link Checker. A web crawler for analyzing the Swiss internet was built on that foundation. More about the crawlers.

Typical Starting Point

  • An existing Go backend needs new features or an additional interface
  • You want to develop a business application and need support from concept to operations
  • An older application needs to be gradually connected to or extended with new services

Benefits

During development, I also consider data storage, permissions, and future operations. For existing systems, we clarify which parts can be reused and where changes are needed.

Scope of Services

  • Development and extension of Go web applications and backend services
  • Implementation of APIs and integration with existing systems
  • Data modeling and database integration, particularly with PostgreSQL or SQLite
  • Implementation of business logic, roles, and permissions
  • Setup and management of operations with Docker, on-premises or in the cloud

For interactive interfaces, I can complement Go with a TypeScript frontend. Other applications are better suited to server-side HTML templates with htmx, as used in SimpleDMS.

Collaboration

I can develop a new application or provide targeted support for an existing project. If a development team is already involved, we coordinate responsibilities, interfaces, and handover. Ongoing development and operations can also be part of the engagement.

Process

  1. We clarify the desired features, existing codebase, and operating environment.
  2. I define an achievable first step and plan the necessary changes to the data model and interfaces.
  3. I develop the features with tests and regular progress updates for joint review.
  4. We introduce the changes and agree on ongoing support or handover.

Outcome

You receive a Go application or backend extension for the agreed use case. The interfaces and steps needed for operations are documented so the application can continue to be maintained.

Contact

Briefly describe your application, existing technologies, and the change you want. For a new project, the use case and your requirements are enough to start. Send the information to email@marcobeierer.com so I can assess a suitable starting point.
