Proprietary Application Moodle Workplace

The separate Moodle Workplace extends Moodle LMS with additional tools for workplace learning. The Workplace documentation describes programs, recurring certifications, organizational structures, multi-tenancy, and dynamic rules, among other things. These Workplace features are not generally part of the public Moodle LMS repository.

In its Workplace FAQ, the vendor explicitly states that Moodle Workplace is not open source and is available only through authorized partner companies and service providers. The GPL license of Moodle LMS grants no corresponding rights to the proprietary Workplace additions. The specific usage rights and services depend on the respective offer. Paid hosting of Moodle LMS is a separate matter and does not make the GPL core proprietary.
