Grist

Grist combines a spreadsheet, a relational database, and an app builder. Teams can create linked tables, forms, various data views, formulas, and granular access rules.

The actively maintained Community Edition can be self-hosted, is licensed under Apache-2.0, and mainly uses TypeScript, Python, and SQLite.

For SSO, the Community Edition supports authentication through an upstream proxy. The proxy must protect the identity headers against tampering.

Source-Available Full Version

The full version adds automations, Grist Assistant, cell comments, advanced administration, audit log streaming, and direct OIDC or SAML SSO, among other features. You can self-host it, and it also powers the hosted service. Besides paid plans, free activation keys are available for eligible individuals and small organizations. These keys do not make the additional components open source.

According to the self-hosting documentation, the source code of the additional components is available on request to customers on the Enterprise plan. However, it is subject to a non-open license that grants no automatic rights to use or redistribute it. The Apache-2.0 rights to the Community Edition remain unaffected.
