Sitemap Generator Pro

The free version of the Sitemap Generator creates an XML sitemap with up to 500 URLs. The online generator can crawl up to 2500 URLs when you add the allow-sitemap-generator.html file to the root folder of your website.

For larger websites, Sitemap Generator Pro supports higher URL limits. The old Pro plans covered sitemaps with up to 500'000 URLs, with individual offers for larger websites.

The Pro version supports image and video sitemaps. Adding images and videos to the sitemap can support their indexing by search engines. For some websites, search engines only start indexing images and especially videos after a suitable sitemap is available.

Sitemap Generator Pro supports images, videos embedded with HTML5 video elements and videos embedded from YouTube. Details about the collected sitemap data are documented on the Sitemap Generator Data page.

If the crawler queue is full, requests from Sitemap Generator Pro are processed before requests from the free version.

The paid version belongs to the Sitemap Generator service and is not limited to one client. You can use the same paid version with the online client, the Joomla extension and the WordPress plugin.

All clients use the same external crawler. The crawler visits the website like a normal visitor and creates the sitemap from the crawl data. This keeps the computation costs for your web server low and works independently of the CMS.

WordPress plugin	Generate the sitemap from the WordPress backend. The generator works out of the box with WordPress plugins and saves the result as sitemap.xml in the WordPress root directory.

Sitemap Generator Pro respects the robots.txt file, including the crawl-delay directive. You can use the MB-SitemapGenerator user-agent to control the crawler. The generator also supports robots noindex meta elements and adds nearly all indexable file types, for example PDF, Excel and Word documents, to the sitemap.

The Joomla extension and WordPress plugin communicate the URL of your website and the client type to the external service. The service then crawls the website and returns the generated sitemap.

If an existing sitemap.xml file is present in the root directory, the Joomla extension and WordPress plugin can overwrite it. Back up an existing sitemap before generating a new one and check the result afterwards.

The quota counts all URLs the crawler has to process, not only URLs that end up in the sitemap. Non-indexable files, for example ZIP files, still have to be requested and classified before they can be excluded from the sitemap.
