PHP Developer for Web Applications & Extensions

Does your PHP application need an additional feature, an interface, or a custom extension for Joomla or WordPress? I extend existing applications and connect them to other systems.

Since becoming self-employed in 2007, I have developed my own Joomla extensions, WordPress plugins, and custom PHP applications for clients. I have also helped other IT service providers resolve technical problems in their client projects.

Reference Projects

Joomla extensions and WordPress plugins. The CMS integrations for my Sitemap Generator and Link Checker are written in PHP. They connect Joomla and WordPress to the services developed in Go. At their peak, the extensions and plugins for the two tools had more than 50,000 active installations combined. More about the website tools.

Connectors for backups and update monitoring. For my website tools, I developed PHP connectors as Joomla extensions and WordPress plugins. They connect websites to a central platform that I use for daily backups and monitoring available updates. More about the connectors.

Digital library for a textbook publisher. For a publisher in Austria, I developed a digital library with an access system as a Joomla application. It allowed teachers and students to use the textbooks online as well. More about the digital library.

Typical Starting Point

  • A PHP application largely supports your workflows but needs targeted additions
  • Joomla or WordPress lacks a suitable extension, or an existing plugin needs customization
  • Data needs to be exchanged between your website and another system
  • An established application has errors whose cause first needs to be identified

Benefits

A targeted extension can preserve existing workflows while adding missing features. With Joomla and WordPress, I use their intended extension mechanisms so custom changes remain as independent as possible from the CMS core. Interfaces can replace recurring manual data transfers.

Scope of Services

  • Further development and bug fixes for existing PHP web applications
  • Development and customization of Joomla extensions and WordPress plugins
  • Integration of external APIs and implementation of data exchange interfaces
  • Adjustment of database queries and business logic
  • Compatibility checks of custom extensions for planned PHP or CMS updates

Collaboration

You can commission a change directly or bring me in for a defined technical part of your client project. Before starting, we clarify who operates the website or application and who approves changes. For ongoing development, we agree on the next tasks based on your priorities.

Process

  1. I review the application, the PHP and CMS versions in use, and the existing extensions.
  2. We clarify the desired behavior and define the affected features and data flows.
  3. I implement the change in a test environment and check it against the affected workflows.
  4. After your approval, the change is introduced with documentation of the changes and necessary operational steps.

Outcome

Your existing application receives the agreed feature, bug fix, or system integration. The changes and their dependencies are clearly recorded so they can be considered during future updates.
