form.io

The open-source core of form.io builds web forms with a visual editor, input validation and basic access rules. APIs let you integrate forms and data into other applications.

The actively maintained core is self-hosted, licensed under OSL-3.0 and uses JavaScript and MongoDB. It differs from the broader enterprise and SaaS offering.

Proprietary Enterprise Offerings

According to the official comparison, Enterprise and SaaS add the Developer Portal, project and team management, reporting, PDF servers, premium form components and additional authentication methods such as SAML, among other features. These features are not generally part of the OSL-licensed core. An OSL installation therefore does not prove, for example, the feature set of the paid PDF servers.

The proprietary components fall under the Technology Services Agreement and the respective order. The agreement limits use to the contract term and the agreed scope and prohibits subleasing and reverse engineering, among other things. The open-source components covered separately there and their own licenses are a different matter.
